Jhansi, 18th February 2025: A woman who was brought to a medical college in critical condition passed away shortly after arrival. Her in-laws claimed she had died by suicide, but a shocking revelation from her five-year-old daughter turned the case on its head. The child, in tears, drew a picture depicting how her father allegedly killed and strangled her mother, leading to an uproar from the victim’s family.

The woman, identified as Sonali, had been married to Sandeep Godaulia, a medical representative, since 2019. According to her father, Sanjeev Tripathi, Sonali had been subjected to harassment by her in-laws since her marriage. When she gave birth to her daughter, Darshika, five years ago, her in-laws allegedly abandoned her at the hospital. She initially returned to her parental home but was later taken back by her husband’s family. However, continued mistreatment led her to file a case against them. A settlement was reached six months ago.

Sonali recently attended her cousin’s wedding in Tikamgarh. Her husband called her there, demanding she return home immediately or never return. She was sent back to her in-laws that evening. The following morning, her family received a call stating she was unwell, followed by another informing them of her alleged suicide. When they arrived at the medical college, young Darshika recounted how her father had beaten and strangled her mother.

Enraged by the child’s revelation, Sonali’s family accused her in-laws of murder and refused to perform her last rites until the accused were arrested. As tensions escalated, the in-laws fled the scene.

Police Circle Officer (City) Ramveer Singh confirmed that the victim’s body bore injury marks. “A case has been registered, and investigations are underway. The postmortem report will determine the exact cause of death,” he stated
