By Saturday evening, the continuous release of water from the Khadakwasla dam led to a notable increase in water levels in the Deccan area. As a precautionary measure, electricity supply to approximately 100 consumers in Pulachi Wadi and Premnagar has been shut off to ensure power security. Similarly, in Ektangari on Sinhagad Road, electricity supply to 15 consumers was disconnected due to floodwaters entering two societies.
Pune and PMRDA fire brigades have been actively deployed across several vulnerable areas, including Ekta Nagri, Sarita Nagri, Deccan Riverside, Erandwane, Khilarewadi, Dattawadi, and Vishrantwadi. Equipped with essential rescue materials such as torches, ropes, life jackets, life rings, megaphones, and boats, the fire brigades are on high alert. They are continuously providing instructions and safety warnings to residents through megaphones to ensure everyone remains informed and safe during this period of increased water discharge and potential flooding.
Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale assured that the situation is being closely monitored and authorities are prepared to take further action if necessary to safeguard residents and property in the affected areas.
