Former UP Chief Secretary Durgashankar Mishra Reviews Simhastha 2027 Preparations, Emphasises Systematic Planning and City Readiness
Nashik, 13 April 2026: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Durgashankar Mishra on Friday reviewed the preparations for Simhastha Kumbh 2027 during a visit to the Smart City office in Nashik, in the presence of NTKMA Commissioner Shekhar Singh, NMC Commissioner Manisha Khatri, and NMC additional commissioner Amit Ranjan. Nashik rural SP Balasaheb Patil, NTKMA Additional commissioner Kamlakar Randive, and Nashik City DCP Kiran Kumar Chavan, and NTKMA Tehsildar Makrand Diwakar were present too.
Drawing from his administrative experience and long association with Kumbh Mela management, he shared broad perspectives aimed at strengthening planning and preparedness for the upcoming event.
He highlighted the importance of regular reviews and coordinated efforts across departments to ensure timely execution of works. Emphasis was laid on adopting a structured approach towards planning, monitoring and implementation.
Referring to preparedness measures, he noted that the current phase can be effectively utilised for testing systems and strengthening on-ground arrangements. He also suggested that infrastructure and technology components, including surveillance systems, may be reviewed and assessed to enhance operational efficiency during the event.
He underlined the role of appropriate use of technology, including emerging tools, in supporting crowd management and administrative coordination. He also emphasised the importance of citizen awareness and participation in ensuring cleanliness and discipline during the Kumbh period.
Highlighting the importance of visitor experience, he suggested that all stakeholders may work towards improving basic amenities and overall upkeep across the city. He also noted that ongoing cleanliness and beautification efforts can contribute to enhancing the city’s preparedness.
He further stated that preparations for Simhastha Kumbh 2027 present an opportunity to strengthen urban infrastructure and service delivery systems, creating long-term benefits for the city.
