The way online payment is increasing in India, the graph of online fraud is also going up equally fast. During the pandemic, digital transactions increased exponentially. That is why hackers and attackers are now easily duping people and taking away their hard-earned money.

One such recent case is related to the Paytm app. The Indian Express reported that the Hyderabad Police has arrested eight persons for cheating people of lakhs of rupees. It is being said that the police recovered Rs 75,000 and them him behind the bars in the online fraud case.

Another incident has come to light from Indore (Madhya Pradesh) and Chhattisgarh. In a fraud case, the attackers bought salmon worth thousands of rupees from a shopkeeper and later showed fake notifications on this app by entering phone numbers and other details. Later these thugs were caught and handed over to the police.

In the last few months, there has been a huge increase in incidents of fraud using the Paytm fake app. By using this app the attackers are tricking the people and looting their hard-earned money. The app looks very similar to the original Paytm app including its interface, so it often becomes difficult for people to differentiate between the fake and the real one.

In most cases related to Paytm fraud, the accused first buy something from a shop and then enter the shopkeeper’s phone number, shop name, amount, and other details to create fake payment notifications, showing that they paid the money. Paytm fake app also sends payment notifications to the shopkeeper’s account but basically, no money is deposited in the shopkeeper’s bank account.

To spot such scams, you should always check your bank account balance after every transaction. You will also need to verify the source of credit, it should always come from your bank.
