Pune, 11th September 2025: At the recent TEDx SIBM Nagpur, Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, Vice Chancellor of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), delivered a thought-provoking talk titled “Boundaries, Not Balance: How AI Supports Work-Life Balance.”

Challenging the traditional notion of “work–life balance,” Dr. Raman argued that striving for perfect equilibrium is often unrealistic and stressful. Instead, he proposed the idea of “boundaries”—clear limits that individuals set to protect personal time and well-being.

He highlighted the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enabling these boundaries. From automating repetitive tasks to offering smart scheduling and wellness monitoring, AI, he said, can act as a powerful ally in reclaiming time and reducing burnout.

“It’s not about chasing an elusive balance,” Dr. Raman noted. “It’s about defining boundaries—and AI can help us achieve those with greater clarity and efficiency.”

The talk also drew attention to the risks of technology blurring the lines between work and life, emphasizing the need for mindful and ethical use of AI tools.

The session struck a chord with the audience, many of whom resonated with the shift from balance to boundaries in today’s hyper-connected world.
