Pune: Retired ACP Booked for Allegedly Attempting to Assault Daughter-in-Law in Pune
Sahakarnagar, 11th September 2025: In a shocking incident, a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) from Pune has been booked for allegedly attempting to assault his newlywed daughter-in-law sexually. The case has been registered at Sahakarnagar Police Station against the accused, along with his wife and son.
According to police, the 30-year-old woman married the retired officer’s son just a month ago. The family allegedly concealed the fact that the son was unable to father children.
Soon after the wedding, the accused father-in-law allegedly entered the woman’s room and told her that since his son could not have children, she would have to “fulfil this role” with him. Shocked by the proposition, the woman managed to escape from the situation and rushed to the police station to file a complaint.
Based on her statement, police have booked the retired ACP, his wife, and his son under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Officials said further investigation is underway.
The incident has sparked outrage in Pune, a city often regarded as Maharashtra’s cultural capital, for tarnishing the sanctity of the father-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship.
