Funding From Pune University To 164 Colleges For Implementation Of National Education Policy
Pune, 5th January 2023: For effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will provide grants to 164 colleges in Pune, Ahmednagar, Nashik, and Dadar Haveli.
‘Quality Improvement Scheme’ has been started by SPPU, and provision has been made to provide funds to the colleges affiliated with the university to implement the National Education Policy under this scheme.
Giving information about this, Adhi Sabha member Prasenjit Fadnavis said that SPPU is the only university that provides funds in this way. Last year too, more than Rs two crore was distributed by the university.
Giving more information regarding this, Registrar Dr Prafulla Pawar said, “Out of the colleges which had applied for the academic year 2022-23, 164 colleges have qualified for this scheme, including 49 from Pune City, 16 from Pune Rural, 19 from Nashik, 15 from Ahmednagar and one from Dadar Haveli to conduct national level workshops. 100 such colleges are included. A subsidy of Rs one lakh will be given to each of them.”
“A total of 64 colleges have been qualified for the state-level workshop. 27 from Pune City, 17 from Pune Rural, 12 from Nashik, and eight from Ahmednagar.” Pawar said that these colleges will be given a subsidy of Rs 50,000 each.
It has been mentioned in the circular issued by SPPU that the eligible colleges must organize this workshop before 15th February 2023, and the funds received must be spent as per the rules and conditions.
Dr Sanjeev Sonawane, Pro-Vice Chancellor, said, “The National Education Policy should not only be limited to universities and circles but should also be implemented in rural areas broadly. Colleges should take advantage of this opportunity and make this information widely available to all and implement it properly.”
