Fursungi: MSEDCL Additional Executive Engineer Arrested by Pune ACB for Demanding and Accepting Bribe

Hadapsar, 5th June 2026: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune Unit, has arrested a Class-1 senior official of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL/Mahavitaran) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe. The accused senior officer was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹7,500.

The trap was successfully executed on Thursday afternoon, June 4, 2026, at the MSEDCL Subdivision-2 office in Hadapsar, Pune.

Complainant: A 43-year-old male.
Profession: Electrical Sub-contractor executing electrical contract works for MSEDCL.

Case Background and Bribe Demand
The complainant, who regularly executes various electrical contract works for MSEDCL, had recently completed the installation of 12 new electricity meters. To clear the paperwork and approve these installations, the accused, Additional Executive Engineer Ramchandra Narayan Londhe, allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹1,000 per meter, totaling ₹12,000 for the 12 meters.

Furthermore, Londhe demanded an additional bribe of ₹50,000 to facilitate and approve a new electricity connection for another building that the complainant had undertaken.

Reluctant to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune, and lodged an official complaint on June 2, 2026.

Verification and Bribe Negotiation
Following the complaint, the Pune ACB team conducted a verification operation on June 2, 2026. During this verification process, it was established that Londhe had demanded ₹12,000 for the 12 meter connections. It was further revealed that the accused had already accepted ₹4,500 of this amount previously and insisted on receiving the remaining balance of ₹7,500 from the complainant to complete the work.

The Trap and Catching Red-Handed
On June 4, 2026, a trap was meticulously planned and laid by the Pune ACB. At approximately 13:06 hours (1:06 PM), Ramchandra Narayan Londhe was caught red-handed at his office at MSEDCL Subdivision-2, Hadapsar, Haveli Taluka, Pune District, while accepting the negotiated bribe balance of ₹7,500 from the complainant.

The bribe was accepted as “remuneration” for clearing the meter installations. Londhe was immediately taken into custody.

An FIR has been registered against the accused officer for offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Superintendent of Police, Shirish Sardeshpande, and Additional Superintendent of Police, Ajit Patil, have issued an appeal to all citizens:
“If any public servant (government officer/employee) or any private person (agent) acting on their behalf demands a bribe or an illegal gratification over and above the legal fees for doing any government work, citizens are requested to immediately report the matter to the Pune ACB.”
