A WREATH LAYING CEREMONY HELD AT NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL, PUNE
1965 Indo-Pak war Golden Jubilee was celebrated on 22 Sep 2015 in an impressive ceremony held at the National War Memorial, Pune to commemorate the hard fought victory of Indian Defence Forces over Pakistan. The event was witnessed by large gathering of serving, retired defence personnel, school children and general public.
The event started with patriotic songs by students of St Mary’s School, Pune, Smt Janardhan and an Army person followed by offering of prayers by the religious teachers to the heroes of the three services. Floral tributes were thereafter given by serving soldiers and veterans. At the concluding stage of the ceremony a wreath was laid by Lt Gen Ashok Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC, GOC-in-C Southern Command.
The event culminated with a high Tea at ‘Brigadier Sheriff Garden’, which saw lively interaction between the veterans, serving officers, civilian dignitaries and the school children.
