Good News Punekars: Percentage of Active Corona Patients Dropping, Number of Cured Patients Rising
Pune, May 7, 2020: “Day starts with good news to Punekar. Last 7 days, 50 plus COVID-19 patients cured and discharged daily. Active positive cases against total positive is now 65 % which was 79 % on 28th April”, said PMC Additional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal, who is also the CEO of Pune Smart City.
The first corona patient in Maharashtra was detected in Pune on March 9. Since then, there has been a steady rise in the number of patients infected with the coronavirus. The total number of positive cases yesterday reached 2029 in PMC areas. However, the analysis of the trend over the last nine days has brought good news for the people of Pune.
The couple, who went to Dubai for a trip, and their daughter were the first to be detected with coronavirus. After 14 days of treatment, they were discharged from PMC run Naidu hospital on March 25. However, by the end of April, the number of new patients was continuously increasing as compared with those recovering and returning home. In Pune city, more than 50 COVID positive patients have been released for seven consecutive days since May 1. In the 43 days from March 25 to May 6, 587 patients have recovered and gone back to their homes in the city.
Trend of active case
The new trend is that the number of patients currently undergoing treatment is declining in Pune as compared to the total number of patients infected with corona. The total number of corona patients in Pune on April 28 was 1339. And 1057 (79 percent) of them were admitted to different hospitals for treatment. The same proportion has come down to 65 percent. That is, although the total number of patients in the city is 2,029, now only 1,324 patients are admitted to hospitals. As a result, the number of active cases has come down from 79% to 65%.
