Guinness World Record Attempt at Pune Book Festival; 9,000 Participants to Join Largest Reading Activity

Pune, 12th December 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to host the Pune Book Festival, aligning with the city’s rich history and cultural legacy. To foster a love for reading among children and promote the reading culture in Pune, a special reading program is planned at SP College on December 14, starting at 8 am. This initiative aims to set a Guinness World Record for the largest reading activity by students and parents.
The Guinness World Record attempt will involve 4,500 students and an equal number of parents from various schools within PMC. The event seeks to encourage parents to read to their children for 3 to 5 minutes, fostering a sense of interest and love for reading. The collective reading activity will be a testament to Pune’s commitment to literacy and education.
In addition to the Guinness World Record attempt, PMC invites all Pune Citizens to participate in the “Peace! Punekars are Reading” activity on December 14, from 12 noon to 1 pm. The citywide initiative encourages residents of Pune to engage in a collective reading session. Pune Citizens are urged to participate enthusiastically, contributing to the shared goal of fostering a reading culture across the city.
