Hinjawadi police arrest duo for selling gutkha, seize gutkha worth Rs 11 lakh

Susgaon, February 25, 2021: Hinjawadi police have arrested two persons for selling gutka on Wednesday. The police have seized gutkha worth Rs11.01 lakh along with two vehicles, and a mobile phone. Total items worth Rs 24.17 lakh were seized from their possession.

The operation was carried out on Wednesday (February 24) at Tapkirvasti in Susgaon.

The arrested accused have been identified as Chhoturam Ratnaram Devasi (22), a resident of Hemraj Chowk in Kothrud, and Ramdev Ratnaram Soda (24), a resident of Ganraj Chowk in Baner. Both arrested accused are natives of Rajasthan.
Police Naik Kunal Shinde has lodged a complaint at the Hinjawadi police station.
According to police, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ganesh Biradar was informed that gutkha was being sold in a Breeza car and a Bolero pickup parked at Tapkirvasti in Susgaon.
 Accordingly, police set a trap in the area and seized both vehicles. Both accused were also taken into custody. During their interrogation, initially, both accused gave vague answers. However, after some time, they confessed that they had bought the gutkha for sale.
The police seized gutkha worth Rs 11.01 lakh and two vehicles worth Rs 13.16 lakh and a mobile phone from their possession. A total of items worth Rs 24.17 lakh were seized from the accused.
The action was taken by the team under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokale, Deputy Commissioner of Police Anand Bhoite, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ganesh Biradar and Senior Inspector of Police Balkrishna Sawant.
The team included Inspector of Police (Crime) Ajay Jogdand, Assistant Inspector of Police Sagar Kate, RS Mudal, ASI Vaibase and police personnel Bhalerao, Balkrishna Shinde, Bandu Marane, Kunal Shinde, Atik Sheikh, Hanmant Kumbhar, Subhash Gurav, Shrikant Chavan, Palve, Datta Shinde, Rane, and Gumladu.
