Mumbai, 11th June 2025: MSEDCL’s electricity bills are now also available in the central government’s online facility DigiLocker, which keeps important documents like Aadhaar card, driving license, income certificate, caste certificate safe in electronic form and makes them available whenever needed. MSEDCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Lokesh Chandra appealed on Wednesday to electricity consumers to take advantage of this facility.

Hon. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed to provide more services to electricity consumers based on ease of living. Accordingly, MSEDCL, also called Mahavitaran, has linked electricity bills with the central government’s DigiLocker. Due to this, electricity consumers will be able to access electricity bills along with important documents stored in the DigiLocker app on their mobile phones. This will be useful for them to pay their electricity bills and to send this bill to anyone as per their needs or to print it.

DigiLocker is an important initiative launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Union Government under the Digital India program. Using it, citizens can keep their PAN card, vehicle registration documents, ration card, 10th mark sheet, 12th mark sheet, residence certificate and many other documents safe in the app and can use them as per the need. Since all the documents are kept in the mobile app, they are always available with them. So far, 52.89 crore citizens in the country have started using DigiLocker and have kept 859 crore documents in it. The documents in DigiLocker system are deemed to be at par with original physical documents as per the rules of Information Technology Act.

MSEDCL has made the bill information in its server available to the DigiLocker facility. After the electricity consumer goes to his DigiLocker app, he has to select the MSEDCL as electricity company and enter his electricity customer number. This activity is to be done only once, after that, the consumer will continuously get the current month’s electricity bill in his DigiLocker.
