Viman Nagar, 28th December 2025: The State Excise Department conducted a major crackdown on an illegal party being held at a pub in the Viman Nagar area in the early hours of Saturday, detaining 50 people, including men and women. A case has been registered against 10 persons, including pub owner Amarjit Singh Sanyu, officials said.

The raid was carried out around 5 am on Saturday (December 27) at ‘The Noir Pub’ on Airport Road by a team led by State Excise Superintendent Atul Kanade. Liquor and other material worth Rs 3.67 lakh were seized during the operation.

According to the excise department, the party was being organised without obtaining the mandatory licence. Acting on specific information, the team raided The Noir Pub, where they found the event underway in violation of excise norms. During the raid, 178 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered from the premises.

Kanade said that large-scale parties are organised across the city to welcome the New Year, and several organisers attempt to bypass rules by hosting illegal events. To curb such violations, the excise department has deployed 21 flying squads across Pune to keep a close watch on unlawful parties and liquor-related offences.

The department also seized equipment and materials allegedly used to run the illegal liquor business, including chairs, sofas, wooden tea tables, iron furniture, speakers, sound systems, a laptop, a computer, glassware and a fog machine.

In total, action has been taken against 52 persons in the case. Of these, two accused, identified as the pub operator and manager, are currently absconding and have been declared wanted. Further investigation is underway.
