India and Cambodia Kick Off First Joint Military Exercise CINBAX in Pune
Pune, 2nd December 2024: The inaugural Joint Table Top Exercise, CINBAX, between the Indian Army and the Cambodian Army began on Sunday at the Foreign Training Node in Aundh, Pune. The exercise, running from December 1 to December 8, 2024, involves 20 personnel each from an Indian Infantry Brigade and the Cambodian Army.
CINBAX is designed as a planning-focused exercise to simulate joint counter-terrorism operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. It aims to strengthen collaboration in planning and executing operations in a counter-terrorism context. Discussions will cover topics like forming a Joint Training Task Force for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, and strategies for deploying force multipliers in unconventional operations.
Key areas such as information operations, cyber and hybrid warfare, logistics, casualty management, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) will also be explored.
The exercise will be conducted in three phases.
Phase I: Orientation and preparation of participants for counter-terrorism operations in UN peacekeeping missions.
Phase II: Execution of the Table Top Exercise, focusing on scenario-based tactical planning.
Phase III: Consolidation of the lessons learned and finalizing operational plans.
This structured approach will help participants understand real-world applications through practical discussions and situation-based exercises.
The event will also highlight India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing by showcasing weapons and equipment developed domestically. This aligns with India’s commitment to promoting ‘Atmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) in defence production.
The first edition of Exercise CINBAX seeks to build mutual trust, camaraderie, and interoperability between the two armies. It is expected to enhance joint operational capabilities, particularly in peacekeeping scenarios, while fostering cooperation and understanding between India and Cambodia.
