Indian Roller Derby Team Clinches Silver at The 20th Asian Roller Skating Championships in Korea
Jecheon/Pune, 28th July 2025: In a historic achievement for Indian roller sports, the Indian Roller Derby Team secured the silver medal at the 20th Asian Roller Skating Championships, held in Jecheon, South Korea, from July 19 to July 30, 2025.
The Indian team showcased exceptional talent and determination, finishing second to the Australian team, who took home the gold. Japan rounded out the podium with a bronze medal.
Leading the Indian squad was Captain Shrutika Sarode, a remarkable athlete from Pune, Maharashtra. A qualified engineer and recent MBA graduate, Shrutika exemplifies the balance between academic excellence and sporting prowess. She trains under the guidance of Coach Ashutosh Jagtap in Pune.
Shrutika Sarode, Team Captain, said: “Winning silver at the Asian Championships is a proud and emotional moment for all of us. Competing against some of the best teams in Asia and standing on the podium is a dream come true. This medal is not just ours – it belongs to every aspiring skater in India. The national team was coached by Sandip Bhatnagar, who played a pivotal role in preparing the athletes for international competition.
