India’s First Mobile Veterinary Hospital Inaugurated by Maharashtra Dy CM Ajit Pawar in Pune

Pune, 9th June 2025: Pune witnessed a landmark event as Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Pune district, Ajit Pawar, inaugurated the country’s first-ever mobile veterinary hospital in Hadapsar. This innovative facility aims to revolutionize animal healthcare delivery, especially in rural areas where access to veterinary services has been limited.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Hadapsar MLA Chetan Tupe, Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Assistant Commissioner Balasaheb Dhawale, and Dr. Hanumant Shelke along with Dr. Swati Shelke, President and Secretary of the Universal Animal Welfare Society respectively. The couple founded this society in 2009 in Beed district with a mission to eradicate rabies by 2030.
Addressing the growing challenges posed by the increasing stray dog population and the associated public health risks such as dog bites, the mobile veterinary hospital is designed to overcome logistical and infrastructural hurdles faced in rural regions. It provides a comprehensive range of veterinary services directly to communities, ensuring timely medical intervention and animal welfare.
Spanning approximately 2,000 square meters, the mobile hospital is equipped to perform up to 500 surgeries monthly. It features state-of-the-art facilities including an air-conditioned operation theater, outpatient department (OPD), emergency treatment, vaccination services, and sterilization procedures. The hospital can accommodate up to 100 dogs at a time and includes living quarters for 10 staff members on the first floor. Additional amenities include a convertible conference room, kitchen, records room, and solar panels for sustainable energy generation.
