Pune, 18th August 2022– Stressing that use of ink pens is necessary for good hand-writing, Dr S B Mujumdar, Chancellor of Symbiosis International University (SIU) has advocated for its usage.

“There is a close relation between pen, ink and students. So an ink pen should be used for development of good hand-writing,” said Mujumdar after recently inaugurating a special facility for pen lovers by Venus Traders at Fergusson College Road in presence of Surendra Karamchandani and Pramod Karamchandani of Venus Traders.

“Pen was the most instrumental element for education. I have had an attraction for pens since my childhood. At that time, getting a pen, especially a fountain pen, was a luxury. Pens are like relatives and your emotions are involved with it. A fountain pen is a strong alternative for good hand-writing,” Dr Mujumdar said.

A pen lover, Shailesh Joshi, who is a calligrapher, said that ink pens are related to brains.

“When we write with an ink pen, some parts of the brain get activated and we wish to write. This helps in our personality development. Despite we being in the digital age, the importance of writing has not diminished,” said Joshi.

Meanwhile, emphasizing the importance of pens has remained intact in the keyboard age and despite the shift to digital in COVID-19 pandemic, Surendra Karamchandani of Venus Traders has said sales of pens has increased by 25 per cent in recent times.

“Be it youth, middle-aged or aged, all of them have an inclination for pens. Doctors, lawyers or architects have preference for specific brands of pens. Be it at the corporate level or individual level, pens are preferred gifts and so the importance of pens has remained intact in the digital age,” Karamchandani said.

According to Karamchandani, some people possess special pens and taking all such factors into consideration, Venus Traders has come up with a special facility for all the pen lovers.

“At our Fergusson College Road shop, people will be able to see pens from over 50 Indian-global brands in the premium range. Fountain pens, Roller pens, multi-functional pens are on display. Along with Indian brands – Click, Vazir, Parkar, pens of foreign brands – Cross, Lamy, Pilot and Waterman are on display and the pens range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,50,000,” he added.

Apart from pens, the citizens can also view branded pencils ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 4000, branded inks and fountain pen-friendly notebooks.
