Investigate FTII Director For Suspending Professor For Anti-Government Posts On Social Media: Bombay High Court

Pune, 31st March 2022: The Bombay High Court has ordered an inquiry against the director of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune for suspending a professor for his anti-government opinion on social media. The Court also asked the president of FTII to submit the inquiry report.

FTII professor Indranil Bhattacharya has filed the petition in the High Court against his suspension from FTII. The Director issued the suspension order against Bhattacharya for posting against the government on social media.

The hearing was held on Wednesday by the bench of justice S.B Shukre and Justice G.A.Sanap. The court took cognizance that the director did not follow the proper procedure while issuing the order and decided on his own. Even the president’s opinion was not taken. Therefore, the bench issued an inquiry ordered against the director and the hearing was adjourned for three weeks.
