IPL 2021: Today’s match between KKR and RCB postponed, Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrior found Covid-19 positive

New Delhi, 3rd May 2021: The match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was to be played today in the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This match has been postponed. The match was to be played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match was to be played on May 3 from 7:30 pm. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has announced this through its official Twitter handle.

A statement issued by the IPL said, “Both the players have been isolated from the rest of the team and the medical team is in constant touch with them and is monitoring their health.”

An official statement has also been issued by the Indian Premier League (IPL) regarding this.

The IPL is being organized in a Bio Secure Environment. So far 29 matches of IPL have been played and there has been no interruption in the organization of any match. RCB has played seven matches and is third in the points table with five wins. As for KKR, it has only two wins in seven matches and this team is at the seventh position in the points table.

“Today’s match between KKR and RCB has been rescheduled by the BCCI,the RCB’s Twitter handle said. The decision was taken in view of IPL safety guidelines after Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrior’s Covid-19 report came positive. We wish Varun and Sandeep a speedy recovery.”
