IPL 2023: Bangalore Beats Lucknow By 18 Runs

Lucknow, 1st May 2023: KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have once again lost at home in IPL 2023. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Lucknow by 18 runs at their home ground; Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday in the 43rd match of the season. This is Lucknow’s third straight defeat at home.
To date, RCB has lost five matches in nine matches while Lucknow Super Giants’ fourth loss. This is the second time both teams have faced each other this season. In the first match, Super Giants defeated RCB at Bengaluru. RCB is fifth in the points table with 10 points.
Chasing the target of 127 runs, LSG got off to a poor start. On the second ball of the first over, Mohammed Siraj dealt a blow to the Super Giants by taking a wicket of opener Kyle Mayers on zero. Glenn Maxwell caught Krunal Pandya off Virat Kohli to give the Super Giants another blow. Krunal was dismissed for 14 runs.
After this, Super Giants lost the wickets of Ayush Badoni on 21 runs and Deepak Hooda on 27 runs. Nicholas Pooran also couldn’t do much today. The Supergiants had lost five wickets at a score of 38.
Karan Sharma makes Marcus Stoinis his second victim. Stoinis scored 13 off 19 balls while Krishnappa Gowtham was run out on 23 off 13 balls. Josh Hazlewood and Karn Sharma took two wickets for RCB.
After winning the toss and batting first, Bangalore got off to a strong start. Captain Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli put on a 62-run partnership for the first wicket on a spin-friendly pitch. Ravi Bishnoi broke this partnership by dismissing Virat Kohli who scored 31 runs in 30 balls with the help of three fours.
After this, a series of wickets started to fall. Krishnappa Gowtham then dismissed Anuj Rawat (9). Bishnoi took the wicket of Glenn Maxwell. Amit Mishra then sent captain Faf Du Plessis (44) and Suyash Prabhudessai to the pavilion.
Naveen-ul-Haq sent Mahipal Lomar (3), Karan Sharma (2), and Mohammed Siraj back to the pavilion. Dinesh Karthik was run out after scoring 16 runs off 11 balls. At the same time, Wanindu Hasaranga remained unbeaten with eight runs.
Naveen-ul-Haq took three wickets for Lucknow. Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra took two wickets each.
