IPL 2023: Delhi Defeats Banglore By Seven Wickets

Delhi, 6th May 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore were defeated by Delhi Capitals by seven wickets in the 50th match of the season at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Delhi easily passed RCB’s challenge of 182 runs in 17 overs with the loss of three batsmen to spare.

 

Philip Salt from Delhi single-handedly won the match with a powerful knock of 87 runs. He was well supported by Rilee Rossouw who scored an unbeaten 35 runs.

 

Chasing the 182 runs set by RCB, openers Philip Salt and David Warner scored 60 runs. Warner was then dismissed for 22 runs. After Warner, Salt, who played aggressively, was supported by Mitchell Marsh with 26 runs. The duo took Delhi to 119 runs in 10 overs. Meanwhile, Salt had completed his half-century.

 

But this half-century partnership was broken by Harshal Patel. Rilee Rossouw who came after, handed over all the innings to Salt and supported him by hitting the other side. Salt took Delhi to 166 runs in 15 overs at a strike rate of almost 190. Now the match came to just 16 runs off 30 balls.

 

Meanwhile, in the 16th over, Philip Salt, who came close to a century, was dismissed for 87 runs off 45 balls. He was dismissed by Karn Sharma. After this Axar Patel and Rilee Rossouw completed the formality of victory for Delhi in the 17th over. Rossouw scored 35 runs off 21 balls. While Axar scored eight runs not out in three balls.

 

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 181 for four wickets in 20 overs against Delhi Capitals. Virat Kohli scored 55 and Mahipal Lomror scored 54 runs. Faf Du Plessis also contributed 45 runs. Mitchell Marsh took the most two wickets from Delhi.
