Ahmedabad, 29th May 2023: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced a challenge of 171 runs in 15 overs due to rain. Chennai overcame this challenge in 15 overs at the cost of five batsmen at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. All the batsmen from Chennai contributed to the win in the 74th match of the season. Conway played a powerful inning of 47 runs. Ravindra Jadeja scored 15 runs in six balls to give Chennai their fifth win against Gujrat Titans (GT).

Sai Sudarshan’s 96 and Wriddhiman Saha’s 54 runs gave a 215-run challenge to CSK. But before the start of Chennai’s batting, the match was stopped as the rain started and when the match finally started, Chennai was given a new target of 171 runs in 15 overs.

After the match was reduced to 15 overs due to rain, Chennai faced a target of 171 runs. Chennai openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad got off to a good start with 52 runs in the four overs of power play. But in the fifth over, Noor Ahmed increased the pressure on Chennai by giving only six runs.

After a strong start in the power play, Noor Ahmed kept the Chennai batsmen in check. He dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad who scored 26 runs and Devon Conway who scored 47 runs in the seventh over. Due to this, the required run rate was increased. But Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube took Chennai to 94 runs in eight overs.

Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dubey took Chennai to 112 runs in 10 overs. So now Chennai has a target of 59 runs in 30 balls. But Mohit Sharma dismissed Ajinkya Rahane who scored 27 runs off 13 balls. But in the very next 12th over, Shivam Dubey smashed Rashid Khan for 15 runs.

Chennai now needed 38 runs to win from 18 balls. Ambati Rayudu, playing his last IPL match, hit Mohit Sharma for a six off the first ball and a four off the second ball. This made the match 28 runs off 16 balls. On the third ball, Rayudu hit another six to bring the match to 22 runs in 14 balls. But Rayudu was caught on the very next ball.

After Rayudu’s dismissal, Chennai needed 22 runs off 14 balls to win the match. At that time Mahendra Singh Dhoni came to the crease. But Mohit dismissed Dhoni on the very first ball. It was a big blow for Chennai. Mohit conceded a run on the last ball of his over. Now the match came to 21 runs in 12 balls.

Mohammed Shami, who bowled the 19th over, conceded a run on the first ball. The next ball was no run but Shivam Dube scored two runs on the third ball. Now the match was 18 runs in nine balls. Dube took two runs to bring the match to 16 runs in eight balls. Shami conceded three runs off the last two balls of the over.

Now Chennai needed 13 runs to win in the last over. Hardik Pandya gave the responsibility to Mohit Sharma to bowl the last over. Chennai needed 10 runs from two balls to win. Jadeja hits Mohit for a six off the fifth ball to bring the match to four runs in one ball. Jadeja hit a four off the last ball to give Chennai their fifth title.
