Kolkata, 6th April 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made a strong start in the IPL by defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by eight wickets at their home ground, but Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) crushed their hopes in the second match.

KKR set a massive target of 205 runs for RCB to chase, thanks to Shardul Thakur’s brilliant 63 runs. Despite a strong batting line-up, RCB could only manage to score 123 runs before getting bowled out, handing KKR an 81-run victory at their home ground.

In today’s IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, the latter faced a heavy defeat. KKR’s spin trio, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Suyash Sharma, proved to be a nightmare for the Bengaluru batsmen, leading to KKR’s win by 81 runs.

After chasing the challenging target of 205 runs set by KKR, Virat Kohli hit a boundary on the very first ball. Kohli and Faf du Plessis batted cautiously for the first three overs, but then Kohli got out to Narine’s bowling for 21 runs. Du Plessis also fell soon after, bowled by Chakravarthy for 23 runs. Chakravarthy then went on to dismiss Glenn Maxwell (50) and Harshal Patel (0), putting RCB in trouble.

Despite a brilliant performance by Shardul Thakur, who managed to dismiss Michael Bracewell (19), Bangalore’s decline continued. Debutant Suyash Sharma dismissed Anuj Rawat (1), Dinesh Karthik (9), and Karan Sharma (1) to further deepen RCB’s woes. Chakravarthy eventually sealed Kolkata’s victory by catching the ball of Akash Deep on his own bowling. For Kolkata, Chakravarthy took four wickets, Suyash Sharma took three wickets, Sunil Narine took two wickets, and Shardul Thakur took one wicket.
