IPL 2203: Gujrat Looses Despite Rashid Khan’s Hat-Trick! KKR’s Rinku Singh Smashed Five Sixes In Last Over

Ahmedabad, 9th April 2023: The 13th match of the 16th season of IPL was played between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). KKR won the match that went to the last over. Significantly, in the last over, KKR needed 29 runs to win. That’s how Rinku Singh smashed five sixes in a row off the bowling of Yash Dayal to defeat Gujarat. Batting first, Gujarat scored 204 for a loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Rashid Khan was leading the Gujarat team today. Regular skipper Hardik Pandya has been rested due to his unwell condition and Vijay Shankar has got a chance to replace Pandya. Rashid Khan won the toss and elected to bat first.

Rashid Khan said that the team management has decided to rest captain Pandya as his health is not good. Today’s match was played at the home ground of Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, from Gujarat, Sai Sudarsan (53) and Vijay Shankar scored an unbeaten 63 off 24 balls. Chasing the 205-run challenge set by Gujarat, KKR got off to a poor start. Both the openers returned to the pavilion too early.

But Venkatesh Iyer scored 80 runs in 40 balls and cruised to victory. Alzarri Joseph then bowled Venkatesh Iyer (80) and skipper Nitish Rana (45) to wake up the home fans. Then Titans captain Rashid Khan almost sealed the win with a hat-trick.

In the last over, KKR needed 29 runs to win. Rinku Singh changed the outcome of the match with an explosive inning. He hit five consecutive sixes off the bowling of Yash Dayal to register their second consecutive win. Rinku scored 48 runs in 21 balls with the help of six sixes and a four. Finally, KKR won the match by scoring 207 runs in 20 overs.
