IRCTC Announces Heritage Tour Covering Shivaji Maharaj Sites from Pune; Journey Begins June 9, Bookings Open Now

Pune, 30th April 2025: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced a special heritage tour under the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train initiative, covering the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Circuit. The six-day journey is scheduled to commence on June 9, 2025, with bookings now open on a first-come, first-serve basis at https://www.irctctourism.com/bharatgaurav.

The itinerary includes key historical destinations connected to the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Bharat Gaurav AC Tourist Train will depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai, and tourists can also board from Dadar and Thane. The train offers three classes: Sleeper (Economy), AC 3-Tier (Comfort), and AC 2-Tier (Superior), with a total capacity of 748 tourists.

Tour Itinerary Overview:

  • Day 1: Departure from CSMT to Mangaon for Raigad Fort, site of Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation. Overnight stay in Pune.
  • Day 2: Visits in Pune including Lal Mahal, Kasba Ganapati Temple, and Shivsrushti theme park.
  • Day 3: Excursion to Shivneri Fort, the birthplace of Shivaji Maharaj, followed by Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga temple. Overnight halt in Pune.
  • Day 4: Travel to Satara and visit Pratapgarh Fort, site of the historic battle with Afzal Khan. Journey continues to Kolhapur.
  • Day 5: In Kolhapur, tourists will visit Mahalakshmi Temple and Panhala Fort before beginning the return trip.
  • Day 6: Arrival back in Mumbai in the early morning.

Pricing and Inclusions:

  • Economy (Sleeper Class): Rs 13,155 per person
  • Comfort (3AC): Rs 19,840 per person
  • Superior (2AC): Rs 27,365 per person
