Joga Pune team wins title in ‘PDFA Legends Trophy’ football tournament

Pune, 24th February 2026: Joga Pune team won the title by defeating Akatsuki team 5-4 in a tie-break in the final match of the ‘PDFA Legends Trophy’ adult group (above 40 years) 8-a-side football tournament organized by the Pune District Football Association (PDFA) and comprising former and current football coaches of Pune.

The one-day football tournament was organized at the NCF ground in Pashan. The main objective of this one-day tournament was to bring together former football players and coaches above 40 years of age and see these football legends play again. The tournament was supported by Manish Surendra Anand, who made this innovative initiative a success. Ghana, Alpha Legends, Pacific FC, Akatsuki, Pune Veterans, Old Rice, Joga and Khadki Legends teams participated in this tournament.

The tournament was played in a group format. In the semi-finals, Joga, Akatsuki, Khadki Legends and Pacific FC teams clashed. Joga team defeated Khadki Legends team 4-3 in a tie-break, while Akatsuki team defeated Pacific FC team 3-2 in a tie-break to reach the final round. In the final match, Joga team defeated Akatsuki team 5-4 in a tie-break to win. Kenneth Fernandes of Joga team converted the decisive penalty into a goal to secure the team’s victory.

The prize distribution of the tournament was held by PDFA Vice President Pyarelal Chaudhary. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the organization is keen to organize such tournaments to strengthen the game of football and promote it. So that both senior and emerging age footballers will come together to celebrate with a positive spirit of the game. The winning and runner-up teams were given trophies and medals.
