Kanpur-Pune Special Train’s Triple Reschedule Leaves Passengers Stranded for 10 Hours
Pune, 23rd November 2023: Passengers boarding the Kanpur-Pune Special Train, numbered 01038, were left in a state of dismay as the scheduled 8:50 AM departure was suddenly rescheduled to 18:00 PM, causing widespread chaos and inconvenience among travelers. The unexpected delay, communicated by the official railway handle, left individuals stranded at Kanpur station, grappling with the uncertainty of an extended wait, particularly challenging for those accompanied by children.
Adding to the woes, the special trains, lacking a pantry car and devoid of food delivery options, have put passengers in a difficult spot. Aggregators’ inability to provide food on these delayed trains has resulted in additional struggles for those already facing considerable delays. Water bottles are available but at extra charges, and food packets come at an additional cost, making the situation especially distressing for families traveling with young children.
In the absence of adequate onboard facilities, passengers have voiced their grievances across social media platforms, highlighting the mismanagement and inconvenience faced during their journeys. Himanshu Kadam expressed frustration over continuous delays affecting personal events, stating the imminent risk of missing a brother’s wedding due to the unreliability of the train service.
Furthermore, Ashish Srivastava cautioned future travelers of Indian Railways’ special trains, emphasizing the necessity of carrying essential provisions such as food and water for the arduous two-day journey, given the absence of a pantry car and drinking water provisions onboard. This sentiment echoed in various passenger complaints directed at Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and the Railway Ministry, calling attention to the dismal management of special train services and unprecedented delays.
Passengers like Kumar highlighted the dire situation faced by Indian Railways, citing the lack of time management resulting in delays of over seven hours on special trains, compounded by the absence of crucial onboard amenities like pantry services.
