IRCTC Ticket Booking Services Resume After 4 Hours Due To Technical Glitch

Pune, 23rd November 2023: In a day marred by technical disruptions, the Indian Railways faced a setback in their ticket booking system, impacting the festive travel plans of numerous passengers during the Diwali and Chhath season. At 10 am today, the IRCTC ticket booking service encountered a major hiccup, leading to a temporary halt in e-ticket reservations. Railways had geared up with special services for the festive rush, yet the operational inefficiencies resulted in delays and mismanagement of several trains.
Frustration brewed among citizens as the IRCTC handle faced backlash on Twitter, with users expressing their grievances over the booking system’s malfunction. It took nearly two hours before a tweet was issued by the IRCTC acknowledging the technical issues and website disruption, citing ongoing efforts by their technical team to rectify the situation.
Initially, the IRCTC had alerted travelers at midnight, around 12 am, informing them of the temporary suspension of e-ticket bookings due to technical glitches. Assurances were given that the technical team was actively working to restore normalcy and resume booking services promptly.
Amidst the chaos and public outcry, Railway officials managed to resolve the technical concerns, and e-ticket booking was reinstated at 13:55 hrs. This allowed relieved passengers to finally secure their travel bookings after a prolonged interruption caused by the system malfunction.
With the festive season in full swing and numerous people traveling across the country, the glitch in the IRCTC’s booking system has highlighted the critical need for robust infrastructure to handle surges in demand.
