Pune, 15th November 2021: It is important to keep a close watch on law and order in the city due to violence in some parts of the Maharashtra state. Against this backdrop, Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta has instructed the concerned authorities to be vigilant to maintain peace in the area.

Violence erupted in Amravati, Nanded, Malegaon, Pusad and Karanja during a bandh called by Raza Academy on November 12 over communal violence in Tripura. The protest led to stone-pelting, prompting the BJP to call a bandh on the next day. During this bandh, vehicles were burnt and some shops owned by Muslims torched.

A meeting was organized today to review the law and order situation in Pune city. The meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Ravindra Shisve and other senior officials.

Under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta, the situation in sensitive areas within the limits of some police stations was reviewed. Zonal Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and divisional Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) have been asked to keep a close watch to prevent any untoward incident.
