Pune, 15th November 2021: The ambitious e-bus service project at Sinhgad fort is on hold due to a non-agreement between the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) and the Forest department.

According to officials, the forest department has demanded per passenger revenue from the e-bus, while PMPML has not agreed to it. Therefore the decision is yet to be finalised.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, MP Supriya Sule, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh, District Superintendent of Police Abhinav Deshmukh, PMPML CMD Laxminarayan Mishra, and others had visited Sinhagad on 1st October 2021 in PMPML’s e-bus.

It was clear at that time that the PMPML e-bus could cross Sinhagad Ghat with passengers. Therefore, Ajit Pawar had announced that the e-bus service will start between Golewadi and Sinhagad Fort.

However, there were two to three rounds of discussions between the PMPML and the forest department but no decision has been taken yet. However, it is not clear when the bus service would start.

As per the plan, tourists were supposed to park their vehicles at Golewadi for which parking lot has to be created by the forest department. From there, the tourists were to board the PMPML e-bus to reach the fort.
