Kidney Racket In Pune? Ruby Hospital And Kidney Donor Accuse Each Other, Police Investigation On

Pune, 5th April 2022: A shocking incident has taken place at Ruby Hall Clinic where a labourer woman from Kolhapur was allegedly promised Rs 15 lakh for her kidney by two agents. Her documents were forged to show that she was the wife of a patient and made her a donor of a kidney.
The incident came to light when she did not receive the promised money and lodged a complaint with Pune City Police’s Koregaon Park police station.
Meanwhile, the hospital has also filed a complaint with police demanding a thorough probe, saying that the kidney transplant was done following all procedures prescribed by the Regional Authorisation Committee for Organ Transplant of the Sassoon General Hospital.
The complainant’s name is Sarika Sutar, a resident of Kolhapur. She has lodged a complaint against agents Raju and Ravi (full details not known).
According to police, a few months ago, a friend told her that she will get lakhs of rupees if she sold her kidney. Accordingly, Sarika agreed to sell the kidney. However, since a kidney transplant could not be performed without a blood relationship, The two agents created forged documents for the woman. Sujata Salunkhe (patient’s wife) made a fake Aadhaar card in the name of Sarika Sutar. Sarika’s health was subsequently tested at Ruby Hospital.
After completing the medical tests, Sarika underwent surgery at Ruby Hospital and a kidney was removed and implanted in patient Praveen Salunkhe’s body. However, she was not paid the amount of Rs 15 lakh in exchange for the kidney.
Therefore, on March 29, Sarika rushed to the Koregaon Park police station and lodged a complaint. According to the police, the complaint was confirmed and it was revealed that the woman had been cheated.
“The complainant is a native of Kolhapur and has been lured to sell her kidneys through agents. A report has been prepared after investigating the matter. The report has been sent to the health department and Sassoon Hospital. Further action will be taken after their feedback”, said Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Vetal, in-charge of Koregaon Park police station.
When contacted, Ruby Hall Clinic’s CEO Bomi Bote told PunekarNews.in, “All documents are intact. In fact, we are the ones who informed the police about our doubt.”
In a written complaint to police on March 29, Ruby Hall Clinic stated, “This is to inform you that a Swap Transplantation between Mr. Amit Salunkhe and Miss. Sonal Kadam has
been performed on 24.03.2022 at 7:00 am at Ruby Hall Clinic. Today, at the time of discharge of one of the donors, Mrs. Sujata Amit Salunkhe (wife of Mr. Amit Salunkhe), being the Swap donor for Miss. Sonal Kadam, claimed that she is not the wife of Mr. Amit Salunkhe. She has now presented before us a copy of an Aadhaar Card bearing the name of one Sarika Gangaram Sutar. Now she denies that she is Sujata Amit Salunkhe.
The kidney transplant surgery at Ruby Hall Clinic was performed only after following all statutory procedures of verification of documents and completing all formalities including Police verification. The approval for the said transplant was given by the Regional Authorisation Committee for Organ Transplant of The Sassoon General Hospital. All the identification documents of the Recipients and donors were duly verified by the Regional Authorisation Committee for Organ Transplant of The Sassoon General Hospital after due verification at their end. With this, we suspect that there is some foul play involved. We, therefore, request you to kindly investigate this situation and do the needful.”
