Adelaide, 6th December 2024: An unforgettable moment occurred on Day 1 of the day-night Test between India and Australia in Adelaide on Friday. Indian batter KL Rahul appeared to be dismissed for a duck in the first session, but a no-ball from Australian pacer Scott Boland gave him a second chance. Rahul, who opened the batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, had already lost his partner on the first ball of the match. He then seemed to have edged a delivery from Boland into the hands of the wicketkeeper. However, the ball was deemed a no-ball, allowing Rahul to continue his innings.

Following the on-field decision, India’s No. 4 batter, Virat Kohli, began to walk out to replace Rahul. However, umpires quickly sent Kohli back as Rahul’s dismissal was negated due to the no-ball.

Interestingly, Snicko revealed no spike when the ball passed Rahul’s bat, raising questions about whether he intended to review the call.

Later in the over, Rahul was dropped by Usman Khawaja in the slips, giving him yet another lifeline, much to the frustration of Boland and the Australian team.

Rahul eventually fell for 37 runs off 64 balls, with Mitchell Starc claiming his second wicket of the day.

Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. India made three changes for the match, bringing in Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin, alongside the captain himself. Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, and Washington Sundar were left out for the pink-ball Test.
