Know How to Get Kunbi Certificates for Maratha Community in Maharashtra
Pune, 5th September 2025: The Maharashtra government has initiated the process of issuing Kunbi caste certificates, paving the way for members of the Maratha community to secure reservation benefits in education and government employment. The district administration has clarified that applicants will face no hurdles in obtaining the certificate, provided they apply as per the prescribed government guidelines.
Application Procedure
Applicants must first submit their forms online through the Aaple Sarkar Portal (https://aaplesarkar.mahaonline.gov.in). After completing the application, they are required to take a printout and submit it to the respective tehsil office. Officials have stated that certificates will be issued without objection if all necessary documents are submitted correctly.
Documents Required
The following documents have to be attached along with the application:
Aadhaar card, voter ID, or residence certificate
Land-related records such as Satbara extracts or 8A extracts
Old government certificates mentioning “Kunbi”
Genealogy or family history documents
School leaving certificate, if it records Kunbi caste
Caste certificates in the name of parents or grandparents
Authorities have assured that applicants with complete documentation will not face delays in obtaining the certificate.
Verification Process
A committee at the tehsildar’s office will first conduct a preliminary inquiry. If the details provided are found correct, a report will be forwarded to the District Collector. Once the verification is complete, the Kunbi caste certificate will be issued. In cases of discrepancy or doubt, applicants will be called for clarification.
Government’s Warning
The administration has also cautioned that strict action will be taken if false documents are submitted. Cases will be registered against individuals found guilty of furnishing fake evidence. Genuine applicants, however, will have no difficulty in receiving their certificates.
Community Response
The decision has been welcomed by farmers, students, and social leaders from the Maratha community. Many expressed confidence that this move will enable Maratha youth to benefit from reservation in education and government jobs. Reports suggest that applications are being filed enthusiastically in villages across the state.
