Lockdown 4: Pune Municipal Corporation, Pune Police to issue order on Monday about relaxations

Pune, May 17, 2020: The new order about what relaxations will be allowed in lockdown 4 in Pune will be issued on Monday, May 18th, informed PMC Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad today. The decision was taken because Maharashtra State government has not issued guidelines yet. The third phase of lockdown will get over tonight. However, the state government has extended lockdown till May 31.

As the prevalence of COVID-19 virus is increasing in the state, the Maharashtra government has decided to extend the lockdown period in the state till May 31, 2020 so that necessary preventive measures can be taken. The orders were issued by Ajoy Mehta, Chairman and Chief Secretary of the state’s executive committee, by using the powers vested in the government under the Epidemic Diseases Act and the Disaster Management Act.

During this period all the government departments have to strictly implement the guidelines issued earlier from time to time. Also, all the orders issued earlier will remain in force till May 31, the Chief Secretary said. He also said in the order that appropriate instructions would be issued from time to time regarding phase wise exemptions or lifting of lockdown.

Earlier the government had decided to extend the lockdown in the state till May 17, 2020 as per the order dated May 2, 2020. Required guidelines were also issued from time to time. Meanwhile, 201 new cases have been detected in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area taking the total number of patients to 3496. Nine patients died while 53 were discharged from hospitals today. According to PMC, out of 3496 total patients 1751 have been cured and discharged from hospitals while 194 people have died. There are 1551 active patients still admitted in different hospitals.
