Lonavala, 16th July 2026: Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has revoked the order issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, which had been enforced at major tourist destinations falling under the Lonavala Rural Police Station limits.

The restrictions were imposed on July 6 and were scheduled to remain in force until August 31, 2026, as a precautionary measure to manage the heavy influx of tourists during the monsoon season. The order aimed to prevent traffic congestion and reduce the risk of accidents at popular tourist spots.

The locations covered under the order included Ekvira Devi Temple, Karla Caves, Bhaja Caves, Bhaja Waterfall, Lohagad Fort, Visapur Fort, Tikona Fort, Tung Fort, Tiger Point, Lion’s Point, Shivling Point, Pawna Dam, and other tourist attractions in the Lonavala rural region.

According to the district administration, the decision to withdraw the restrictions was taken after reviewing the prevailing weather conditions. With rainfall intensity having reduced and normal life returning to the area, District Collector Jitendra Dudi issued a notification cancelling the July 6 order with immediate effect.

The administration, however, has urged tourists to continue exercising caution while visiting monsoon destinations and to follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.
