Maharashtra: 36,265 New Covid-19 Positive Cases, 79 Omicron Patients Reported Today

Mumbai,  6th January 2022: 36,265 new Covid-19 positive cases reported while 8907 patients recovered and discharged today. 65,33,154 COVID-19 patients discharged after full recovery until today. The recovery rate in the state is 96.17%.

13 COVID-19 deaths reported in the state today. Case fatality rate in the state is 2.08%.

Out of 6,99,47,436 laboratory samples 67,93,297 have been tested positive (9.71%) for COVID-19 until today.

Currently 5,85,758 people are in home quarantine and 1368 people are in institutional quarantine.

Omicron surveillance related information:-

Today, 79 patients with Omicron infection have been reported in the state. All patients have been reported by National Institute of Virology. Details of the cases are as below-

Mumbai – 57

Thane MC- 7

Nagpur -6

Pune MC -5

Pune Rural- 3

PCMC- 1

Till date, a total of 876 patients infected with Omicron variant have been reported in the state.

Out of these, 381 cases have been discharged following a negative RT PCR test.

The details of international passengers arriving at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur airports from 1st December till today morning.

Additionally, field surveillance of all international passengers who have arrived since 1st November is underway. Through airport and field surveillance, 2641 samples have been sent for genomic sequencing. Results of 87 are awaited so far.
