Maharashtra: 42,462 New Covid-19 Cases, 125 Omicron Patients Reported Today

Mumbai, 15th January 2022: 42,462 new Covid-19 positive cases reported the Maharashtra today while 39,646 patients discharged today; 67,60,514 COVID-19 patients discharged after full recovery until today. The Recovery rate in the state is 94.28%.
23 COVID-19 deaths reported in the state today. Case fatality rate is the state is 1.97%.
Out of 7,17,64,226 laboratory samples 71,70,483 have been tested positive (9.99%) for COVID-19 until today.
Currently 22,00,108 people are in home quarantine and 6102 people are in institutional quarantine.
Omicron surveillance related information:-
Today, 125 patients with Omicron infection have been reported in the state. All patients have been reported by National Institute of Virology. Details of the cases are as below-

Amravati-9
Akola-5
PCMC-3
Aurangabad, Jalna, Pune Rural, and Ahmednagar- 2 each
Nashik, Kolhapur, Latur, Satara, Thane MC and Wardha -1 each

Till date, a total of 1605 patients infected with Omicron variant have been reported in the state.
Out of these, 879 cases have been discharged following a negative RT PCR test. The details of international passengers arriving at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur airports from 1st December till today morning.
Additionally, field surveillance of all international passengers who have arrived since 1st November is underway. Through airport and field surveillance, 4792 samples have been sent for genomic sequencing. Results of 71 are awaited so far.
