Mumbai, 1st April 2022: The state cabinet yesterday decided to withdraw all curbs for the prevention of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) except for wearing masks in public places.

Aseem Gupta, Principal Secretary of Disaster Management and CEO of the State Executive Committee has issued an order to all District Collectors to withdraw restrictions imposed for containment of COVID19 from today (1st April 2022).

The order states, “All the citizens, establishments and organisations are advised to continue to follow the Covid Appropriate Behavior including wearing of masks, maintaining social distances etc. as the same is the biggest safeguard for the health and safety of individuals as well as of society at large.

It is specifically directed that all the local disaster management authorities shall remain vigilant about the various dimensions of the outbreak of the pandemic like the number of fresh cases every day, number of active cases, positivity rates as well as occupancies of various beds in medical institutions and hospitals. In case any trend is discerned that causes alarm or indicates resurgence, State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) shall be immediately informed so that appropriate action may be initiated to control the resurgence at the very initial stage.”

As advised by the central government, the states can impose restrictions if the Covid positivity rate goes beyond 10% in a week or oxygen/ICU bed occupancy increases to 40%.
