Pune, 18th January 2023: When word spread that the preliminary (practise) exam was going to be required before students could register for the class 12 or Second Year Junior College (FYJC) final examination, students from all over Maharashtra, including Pune, panicked.

The Maharashtra State HSC Board will hold the class 12 exams from 21st February to 21st March. Anil Sable, the chairman of the Aurangabad Education Divisional Board, reportedly mandated the preliminary (practise) exam for Class 12 students, and only then will they be qualified for internal marking.

Since this news story became widespread on social media, many students and their parents became alarmed. Sharad Gosavi, head of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary (MSBSHS), confirmed that no official circular had been published on the matter. To encourage kids to take the test, Sable has nonetheless verbally called a meeting of the education officers.
