Pune, January 9, 2021: Maharashtra State government has sought an explanation from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) issuing circular regarding reopening of colleges without its nod. SPPU had issued the circular on January 4 asking affiliated colleges to resume offline classes from January 11.

However, the state government issued a notice to SPPU asking why the circular has been issued without its nod. After this SPPU canceled its circular and said that another circular will be issued later to notify when offline classes will resume in colleges.

According to sources, the state government plans to open the colleges in February. Before that, all the institutions will have to comply with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines regarding prevention of COVID19.
