Maharashtra Govt To Withdraw All Lockdown Violation Cases

Mumbai, 29th March 2022: In a major relief to the citizens, the Maharashtra State Home Department has decided to withdraw all cases filed under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)  for violation of the lockdown order.

“Once the decision is approved by the Cabinet, the process of withdrawal of cases will start”, informed Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil.
The state government had earlier withdrawn about three lakh such cases in January 2021. The remaining cases will be withdrawn after the cabinet decision.
Decision to withdraw offences related to bullock cart race
“If there is a crime related to politics or bullock cart race, it has been decided to withdraw it. According to the procedure, the decision will come to the government from all the district heads, then the government will take a decision and then go to court and the crimes will be withdrawn”, said the minister.
