Maharashtra Launches ePSIT Portal to Make Property Card Updates Fully Online
Pune, 22nd June 2026: The Maharashtra Revenue and Land Records Department has introduced a new online platform, ePSIT (Electronic Property System Integrated Tool), enabling citizens to apply for property card mutations, inheritance entries and other related services from the comfort of their homes.
The department has made the facility available through the MahaBhumi portal (mahabhumi.gov.in), eliminating the need for citizens to visit City Survey Offices or the offices of Deputy Superintendents of Land Records for property card-related transactions.
According to officials, more than 1.4 lakh mutation applications have already been processed through the system. The initiative aims to improve transparency, reduce paperwork and make property record services more accessible.
The Land Records Department had earlier introduced the e-Hakk system, which allows citizens to apply online for inheritance entries, registration and removal of loan encumbrances, and other changes to land records. Building on the success of that initiative, the department has now launched ePSIT specifically for property card-related services.
Over the past few years, the department has undertaken a large-scale exercise to prepare property cards for villages and hamlets with populations exceeding 2,000. Property cards have already been created for urban properties across major cities in the state. Officials said nearly 9.1 million property cards have been prepared across Maharashtra so far.
Previously, property owners were required to visit land records offices in person to update ownership details following the sale or transfer of a property. The new system allows applicants to submit requests online, significantly reducing the time and effort involved in the process.
The department has also introduced a digital tracking mechanism that enables applicants to monitor the status of their applications in real time. Citizens can track the progress of their requests online and receive SMS notifications at every stage of the process.
Officials said the initiative is expected to improve service delivery, enhance transparency and reduce the burden on land records offices while making property-related transactions faster, simpler and more citizen-friendly.
