March 24, 2020: In a major relief to people who want to take flight from Pune airport today, Pune city police has exempted cabs/autorickshaw from the purview of Maharashtra lockdown during which no vehicle movement is allowed in Pune city till March 31.

Police officials said that the passenger has to carry his / her air ticket and boarding pass, for being allowed smooth travel till the airport.

Also, people who are landing at Pune airport can get cabs and autorickshaws whose drivers have been given special curfew passes. They will follow designated route till homes of the passengers while going to drop them. The special passes are valid till March 24 midnight.

In the wake of the increasing cases of Coronavirus in the country, the Civil Aviation Ministry has cancelled all domestic flights from midnight of March 24, 2020 (ie today).

According to police, people can also use the passenger transport service provided by the Dial Rikshaw (9859198591) app. But this service can only be used for patient transport and in case of emergency. Abuse of this facility can lead to legal action.

Pune Traffic Police tweeted, “To fight against Covid-19 by maintaining economic stability of society, Pune Traffic Police and CityGlide Auto is working towards providing Clean and Sanitised Auto Rickshaw. Punekars can now call on 98591 98591 and get clean and sanitised Auto Rickshaw at their doorstep. All Autos are equipped with Sanitiser. This step will help to get Rickshaw for transport by preventing virus transmission. Dial 9859198591 and get sanitised autorickshaw. We have identified 40-50 Auto Rickshaws waiting for you with sanitisers and face mask.”

After Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced a statewide curfew in Maharashtra to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (total 97 cases now in Maharashtra), Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta issued a detailed notification in this regard on March 23 (Monday).
