Pune, 13th February 2023: The Maharashtra state government will not make a final decision regarding exempting housing societies in urban areas from paying non-agricultural land (NA) tax until it receives a thorough report from the additional chief secretary of the revenue department.

Societies that are located in gaothan areas within the municipal corporation or municipal council regions are subject to the tax. Members of the State Housing Federation had called for the tax to be eliminated.

Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, the revenue minister, stated on Saturday that such a measure was being thought about. After a meeting last week, Nitin Kareer, the additional chief secretary of the revenue department, was instructed to give the government a thorough report.
