Maharashtra : One crore labourers to get benefit, Labourers’ minimum wages to be doubled

Mumbai, July 24th, 2019: Minister of Labour Dr. Sanjay Kute has decided to increase minimum wages of labourers working the shops and other establishments in the Maharashtra. The wages will be doubled. The raise was pending since last nine years. Some 1 crore labourers from 10 lakh shops and establishments will get benefit of the wages rise.

 

The Minimum Wages Advisory Board of Maharashtra revises minimum wages of labour according to the Section 03, Minimum Wages Act 1948. But it was pending since last nine years due to some technical reasons. Due to the Minister of Labour Shri. Kute, it has become possible for labour class to get minimum wages. Skilled workers will get wage hikes from 5,800 to 11,632; semi-skilled workers will get a hike from 5,400 to 10,865; unskilled workers will get a hike from 5,000 to 10,021- in all municipality areas, industrial and camp areas in the specter of municipality area of Maharashtra. Skilled workers will get a hike from 5,500 to 11,036, semi-skilled workers will get a hike from 5,100 to 10,260, and unskilled workers will get a hike from 4,700 to 9,425 -in town council area. In the remaining areas of Maharashtra, excluding above mentioned two boards- skilled workers will get a hike from 5,200 to 10,440, semi-skilled workers will get a hike from 4,800 to 9,664 and unskilled workers will get a hike from 4,400 to 8,828. Notification regarding the subject has been issued from 24th July 2019.

 

Raghunath Kuchik has been appointed as the President of Minimum Wages Advisory Board of Board since 11th November 2018. Above mentioned wages increase decision is taken with the advice of the Advisory Board. Minimum wages increase is prospected for the labourers working in various 67 employments.
