Pune, 11th April 2022: Schools in Maharashtra state will have summer holidays from May 2 to June 12. The schools for the coming 2022-23 academic year will be started on 13th June, while the schools in Vidarbha will be started from 27th June, informed the school education department through a circular.

Due to the late start of school due to the coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic, the school education department has decided to continue the school till April 30 after completing the syllabus. After that, questions were raised by students, parents and teachers regarding summer vacation.

Against this backdrop, Dinkar Temkar, Director of Primary Education and Mahesh Palkar, Director of Secondary Education had sent a proposal to the Principal Secretary, School Education to take a decision from the government regarding summer vacations and commencement of schools in the state. Accordingly, the school education department issued a circular today.

Results for the first to ninth and eleventh classes will be announced on or after April 30. However, it is the responsibility of the school concerned to convey the results to the students and parents. The adjustment should be made with the permission of the primary and secondary education officer of the district concerned during the festivals like Ganeshotsav or Christmas, instead of reducing the long summer and Diwali holidays in schools. Care should be taken to ensure that holidays in the academic year do not exceed 76 days in total, the circular states.
