Maharashtra to Introduce Dress Code for Primary Teachers from Next Academic Year

Mumbai, 19th April 2025: Primary school teachers across Maharashtra will be expected to follow a formal dress code starting the upcoming academic year, School Education Minister Dada Bhuse announced on Thursday. The decision is part of a broader push to enhance discipline and learning environments in government schools.
Speaking at a school event in Malegaon, Bhuse said, “As the state government is working to reduce non-teaching responsibilities for educators, it is also looking to improve the overall academic atmosphere. Introducing a dress code for primary teachers is one of the measures planned in this direction.”
While the minister did not provide specifics about the proposed dress code, he emphasized that the aim is to foster a more disciplined and professional culture in schools. “This initiative is aligned with our larger efforts to raise educational standards and create a better environment for both teachers and students,” he added.
In addition, Bhuse said the government would continue its efforts to support school infrastructure and student welfare. He announced a new system for distributing school uniforms, stating that funds would be directly transferred to school management committees. “These committees will be responsible for ensuring that students receive their uniforms on the first day of school,” the minister said.
