Palghar, 23rd August 2021: A shocking incident of brutality has come to light from Palghar in Maharashtra in which a tribal man died by suicide due to harassment by his master.

In December last year, Adivasi Kalu Pawar’s son had died. For his last rites, Pawar had taken a loan of Rs 500 from a man named Ramdas Korde. But when Pawar could not pay Rs 500, Korde made him work on his farm for months and beat him up for demanding salary.

The Palghar police on Sunday arrested Ramdas Korde for allegedly beating up and abetting tribal Pawar’s suicide.

According to police, whenever Pawar used to ask for his salary, Korde used to harass and beat him. Earlier this month, Pawar died by suicide.

On the complaint of Pawar’s wife, an FIR was registered against Korde at Mokhada police station for offences under section 374 (unlawful compulsory labour) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant section of the Bonded Labor System (Abolition) Act.
