Mahatma Gandhi’s Great Grandson To Approach Pune Court To Seek Action Against Sambhaji Bhide

Pune 15th Sept 2023: The great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi Tushar Gandhi will today file a case at the Pune court seeking FIR against hindutva activist Sambhaji Bhide for his objectionable remarks against Mahatma Gandhi. The decision to approach the court was taken after the local police took no action in the matter despite getting a written complaint in the matter.
Tushar Gandhi, Advocate Aseem Sarode, Kumar Saptarshi, Vishwambar Chaudhary and Anwar Rajan will file a case at the court today in the matter. Tushar had submitted a written complaint at the Deccan police station in the city last month seeking FIR against Bhide under relevant sections of criminal defamation for his controversial remarks on the lineage of Mahatma Gandhi at an event in Amravati. Protests were launched at various places in the state following this remark.
An FIR was also registered against Bhide in Amravati for his controversial remarks following a complaint by social activists. Earlier last month, a group of activists from Pune had also demanded regulations of use of names of the renowned leaders of the country to avoid defamation.
